Obituary of Florence Lejardi

FLORENCE LEJARDI Florence Lejardi, 86, passed away on January 6, 2010. Born in St. Helena, California, in 1923, she graduated from St. Helena High School and Dominican College, in San Rafael, where she majored in music. She studied music and earned a teaching credential from Stanford University. She taught elementary school for several years. In 1952, Flo married John Lejardi, whom she met at the Neuman Club at Stanford University, and they have lived in Los Altos since that time. While raising three children, she pursued her lifelong passion for piano. She was a piano teacher for over 50 years, holding an annual recital for her students. A talented pianist, she also played in local concerts. She was a member of the Los Altos Music Teachers Association, Fortnightly Music Club of Palo Alto, Palo Alto Two Piano Club, Alpha Delta Kappa Music Chapter, Los Altos Garden Club, and Children of Mary at Sacred Heart. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, who loved spending time with her family. She felt blessed to have so many loving friends. She loved hosting parties, shopping, gardening, music concerts, northern Italian food because of her Italian heritage, and traveling. She traveled with John throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. Flo will be remembered for her spirited personality, thoughtfulness, passion for music, zest for life, and love for family and friends. She is survived by John, her devoted husband of 57 years, her children, Mark, Denise and Jeannette, son-in-law, Curt Sawyer, grandsons, Christopher and Brenden, and brother, Dan Gruppo and family. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Los Altos. Reception to follow at Church Hall.
