Obituary of Zona Y. Koo

Zona Y. Koo, 90, died peacefully on November 22, 2012 at her residence at Vi of Palo Alto. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas S. Koo. They were married for 49 years. Zona was a native of Shanghai China, and emigrated to the United States in the 1950s. After an earlier career in the banking sector, she became an accountant at Signetics for 25 years, a position she held until her retirement. She and her husband had been residents in Palo Alto, and the Portola Valley since 1958. They were very active in the Bay Area Chinese American community and generous supporters of the local charitable organizations. Zona was a volunteer among the kitchen staff of Allied Arts of Palo Alto after her retirement. Besides being an accomplished cook, she was best known for her exquisite needlework. Friends and family benefited from this prodigious talent of hers. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at The Church of the Nativity, 210 Oak Grove Ave., Menlo Park. Burial will immediately follow at Alta Mesa Memorial Park, Palo Alto.
