Obituary of William Ray Saxbury

Bill lived his life with humor and kindness, was a very generous man through his entire life and was always there for anyone who needed help. He had a good life and enjoyed traveling, through the years, with his wife and sometimes with other family members who were lucky enough to have shared good times with this wonderful man. Even as he fought brain cancer courageously and without complaint for seven months, he kept the nurses laughing. They all commented on his wonderful sense of humor. He was born to Jesse Saxbury and R. Mildred Short on June 6, 1936, both of whom predeceased him. Bill graduated from Chino Hill School and CalPoly and served in the US Army for two years. He had a career as an Air Traffic Controller at the Fremont Center for 22 years. He loved to fly, water-ski and travel. He is loved and greatly missed by his wife of 46 years, LaVerne. Bill is also survived by his brothers, Donald and Bertram; his aunts, Velma Marie Wood and Wanda Kelsey; nieces, nephews, and many cousins; his stepchildren, Dale Manger, Deanna Carr; and Deanna's son, Richard Carr. Services will be held at Spangler Mortuary, 399 S. San Antonio Rd., Los Altos on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 11:00am.
