Obituary of William S. Neel
Bill Neel passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August 22. Bill was born in Portland, Oregon on March 22, 1935 to Lenore and Glen Neel. He moved to several different states growing up as the family followed his father's assignments across the country as a Lt. Colonel in the United States Air Force, finally settling back in Oregon where he became an Eagle Scout, graduated from Grant High School and Willamette University, earning a Masters Degree in Education. He later went on to graduate from Foreign Trade School in Arizona. In 1960 he moved to San Francisco where he met his wife Kay. They eventually moved to Mountain View and enjoyed over 34 years with their wonderful friends and neighbors on St. Giles Lane. Bill worked in the insurance industry for over 40 years and upon retiring, enjoyed time spent volunteering for the El Camino Hospital Auxiliary where he was a driver for the Road Runners. His greatest joy was his family and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his beloved wife of 51 years, Kay, daughters Stephanie Roberts (Ray) of Spring Hill, Tennessee, Andrea Crowley (Steve) of Redwood City, and Aimee Neel (Mike Nunn) of Belgrade, Montana. He cherished his six grandchildren: Will and Carson Roberts; Conner, Jesse & Brody Crowley; and Kaden Nunn. He will also be missed by his sister, Mary Pedersen, and extended family in Tallahassee and West Palm Beach, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Frances Pavlik. Bill will be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Private services will be held. Donations may be made in Bill's name to the American Cancer Society.
