Obituary

Tosca Mary Loskutoff, of Mountain View, CA, was born on June 2, 1923, and passed away peacefully in her sleep, on October 20th, 2022. She was 99. Tosca is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William J. Loskutoff and their youngest son, Jack S. Loskutoff. She will be greatly missed by her remaining 4 children: Daniel W. Loskutoff (Sue), Karen A. Trumm, Carol J. Noddings (James), Paul V. Loskutoff (Heather); 13 grandchildren: Matt Trumm (Julie), Julie Molina (Tony), Erin Loskutoff, Emily Howard (Walter), Leslie Higgins (Ryan), Todd Loskutoff, James Noddings (Chrissy), Lindsay Campbell (Ryan), Luke Loskutoff, Mariah Schwan, Isabella Neill (Lawrence), Emmalyn Loskutoff, Eric Schwan; and 10 great grandchildren: Preston Higgins, William Howard, Andrew Higgins, Kingston Howard, Chloe Higgins, Lily Higgins, Jay Noddings, Emily Higgins, Sawyer Noddings, Lilly Hope.

Tosca graduated from Galileo High School in San Francisco, in 1941. During her high school years, she excelled in the arts with theater and dancing her favorites. As an accomplished dancer (ballet, tap, Spanish dancing), Tosca joined the USO during WWII and traveled to many places overseas with a group of entertainers who helped keep up the morale of the troops. This was a magical part of her life and for many years she kept in contact with the performers she worked with. Over the years our family enjoyed her stories of exotic travel.

Tosca worked as a retail clerk for many years while she and William raised their children and pets. The family had a steady stream of well-loved pets throughout the years: Dagmar, Peggy, Tanya, Lulu, Patches, Dancer to name a few dogs and cats. Tosca had a soft spot in her heart for all animals and was very generous in her charitable giving to improve the lives of not only animals, but children and the poor.

Tosca was an active member in her parish church, Saint Williams, in Los Altos as a Eucharistic Minister, Sunday school teacher, Bible study student and member of the parish social group, Lunch Bunch. During Covid times when she could not attend church, she would do her own devotional reading from the Bible and other inspirational books. Family members were always in her prayers.

Right to the end of her life, Tosca was able to stay in her own home and manage most of her affairs with the help of family, caretakers and some special neighbors. She was still sending out birthday and Christmas cards throughout her 90s. Anyone who received these greetings in
the past will no doubt miss seeing them in the future.

A Celebration of Life and Memorial Mass will be at 10:30 AM June 5th, 2023, at Saint Williams Catholic Church, 611 S. El Monte Ave., Los Altos, CA. Joint burial with Tosca's husband William and son Jack, will be at 1 PM at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 1500 Mission Rd., Colma, CA.
