Obituary

Tammy Lee Bytnar Pottorff, beloved wife and daughter, passed away on January 4, 2023 after a serious illness. She had just turned 60. Tammy is survived by her husband, Richard Pottorff of Sunnyvale, Ca. and her mother, Ginger Bytnar of Livermore, Ca. Tammy was preceded in death by her Papa, Bill Bytnar.

She was a native Californian, born in San Jose, on Dec. 14, 1962. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Richard, married since July 8, 2005. And to her mother, Ginger, she was not only a wonderful daughter but also a best friend.

As a child she lived in Maryland, Washington, DC and traveled at age 14 to Russia with a high school group. This trip changed her perspective on life.

Tammy graduated from Chico State University with a degree in Sales and Marketing and International Business. Some of her post graduation travels included Denmark and Italy. Later in life she visited France, Belgium, and Normandy with Richard and later again as Tammy's special gift to her mother.

She became a Director of Business Development for Container Consulting Services, Inc. for a number of years. As such, she loved her job and her customers.

Tammy touched the lives of every person she met. She listened with love and compassion. Tammy led a life of faith, love, and devotion – dedicating over 20 years to the service of our neighbors in need with St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Joseph's Parish in Mountain View and on the Diocesan level for Santa Clara County. She organized and managed the annual Thanksgiving Dinner for the Hungry. She accomplished all this while holding down a full time job. Although her own life wasn't always an easy one and nothing short of challenging, her Faith in God never wavered.

She was a force of nature, lighting up every room she walked into- spreading love, joy, and laughter.

Tammy loved cherries. She spent years collecting cherry themed accoutrements for the kitchen. Her house in Sunnyvale had two big, well producing Bing cherry trees. Every spring she would go out back to pick cherries, by hand and with a long poled cherry picker. One year, she loved cherries so much; she overcame her fear of heights and climbed onto the house's roof.

She made great cherry pies, too. She got a cherry pitter to help with pitting the cherries, before adding them to the pies, which always came out wonderfully delicious. Even the smell of the cherry pies baking was mouthwatering.

Her interests were many, including; singing in the choir, music, dancing, getting together with friends on Murphy St. in Sunnyvale, selling Arbonne health and beauty products, and working with her Mom selling vintage furniture and accessories at Paris Flea Market, Livermore. She had a definite flair for fashion.

She will be remembered lovingly for her positive energy, beautiful smile, and compassionate heart.

Those who loved Tammy are invited to attend her Celebration of Life at Spangler Mortuary 174 N. Sunnyvale Ave. Sunnyvale CA 94086
