Obituary of Sue Singer
Sue Singer, the matriarch of Chateau Drive, passed away at her home on March 21, five weeks after celebrating her 90th birthday. She had lived in Los Altos for nearly 50 years. Sue will be remembered for her friendliness, kindness, compassion, and saucy sense of humor. She loved living in Los Altos, walking her dog and chatting with the neighbors, gardening, going to local theater and music performances, ballet and opera, seeing the American flag waving in the breeze, and visits from her devoted friends and neighbors, who will now deeply miss her. Widowed in 1988 after 43 years of marriage, Sue is survived by daughters Ann Singer, Paula Engelage, Laura Singer and "fourth daughter," Kathy Eastwood (John); granddaughters Elysia Engelage (Kenny Thantanarat), Sam Engelage (Peter Do), Erin Smerek (Andy), and Megan Eastwood; and great-grandchildren Lana Bea Thantanarat and Jacob Smerek. The family would like to thank MaryAnn, Premila, Karina, Merlin, and the staff at Care Indeed for their tender care and devotion. A graveside service will be held at Alta Mesa Memorial Park in Palo Alto at 11am on April 3. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Child Advocates of Silicon Valley in Sue's memory.
