Obituary of Steven Arthur Uhlir

Steven Arthur Uhlir passed away in his sleep at his Los Altos home on April 13. Steve was born in New Jersey and raised in Weston, Massachusetts. He earned a BS in Physics and an MS in Computer Science from Stanford University in 1977. At the time of his death, Steve was enjoying his job as co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Mountain View-based startup Entytle, Inc. He had worked in the computer and technology industries for 37 years, holding positions at Bell Labs, IBM, Sun Microsystems, LumaSense Technologies, Virtual Power Systems, and Entytle, Inc. He was highly regarded for his leadership skills, integrity, straightforward manner, mentoring skills, and sense of humor.Steve's hobbies and interests included cooking, reading mysteries, swimming, and driving his Tesla Roadster. Steve is survived by his wife, Kitty, and their daughter, Janet; his brothers David of Boulder, CO and Donald of Tucson, AZ; and his parents Arthur and Inge Uhlir of Weston, MA. Friends, family, and co-workers are invited to a visitation on Thursday, April 23, 2015, from 5 to 8 pm at Spangler Mortuary, 399 South San Antonio Rd, Los Altos, and a Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at 1 pm at Fremont Hills Country Club, 12889 Viscaino Pl., Los Altos Hills. Inurnment services will be private. Donations in Steve's memory may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
