Obituary of Stayton Matthew Chock

Stayton Matthew Chock

March 18, 1961-Oct. 1, 2019

Resident of Saratoga

Stayton passed away after a courageous, 21-month battle with pancreatic cancer on October 1st. His wife, daughter, and son sat by his side as he passed peacefully and went to join his Heavenly Father.

Stayton was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on March 18, 1961 – the third of four children to Wallace and Betty Chock. He attended St. Louis High School and received the distinction of Valedictorian for the class of 1979. He moved to California that year to enroll at UC Berkeley where he received a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science and a Masters in Business Administration. Stayton also received a Masters of Computer Science at Stanford, where he first met his wife, the love of his life, Christina. He was a loyal employee at Hewlett-Packard (Enterprise) from 1982 until his passing, totaling 37 years of exemplary work.

Beyond his career, Stayton enjoyed his role as a volunteer chess coach at Saratoga schools, traveling to national parks and foreign countries, and most of all spending time with his wife, children, and friends. He will be remembered as an exemplary son, mentor, friend, colleague, husband and father. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Christina; his son David Matthew and daughter Olivia Christina, and son-in-law Timothy Rollinson. He is also survived by his siblings: brothers Brandon and Waylen Chock of Honolulu, and sister Sherilynn Chock of Milpitas.

Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at 11am at St. Frances Cabrini Parish (15333 Woodard Road, San Jose, CA 95124). In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation in Stayton's name to PanCan.org.
