Obituary of Slavka Krsinich

Slavka Krsinich, a long-time resident of the Bay Area, passed away peacefully on Saturday February 4, 2017, at her home in Cupertino, California. Born in Kuna, Croatia, a little town near the Adriatic, she came to America after World War II at the age of 23, as a naturalized American citizen. She resided in Oakland with her mother and father, Peter and Anka Lukac, her sister Senka, and her brother Boris, until 1948, when she married Anthony Krsinich.

Slavka, an amazing chef in her own right, loved good food and socializing with friends. She was famous for her delicious made-from-scratch apple strudel and her lemon merengue pie. Slavka was dedicated to her three daughters but as a young wife and mother she also enjoyed the monthly meeting of the Sewing Club with many of her Croatian-American lady friends where very little sewing was done---but stories were told and laughs were shared. She had a wonderful smile that could light up a room.

Slavka is preceded in death by her husband Anthony Krsinich, her sister Senka Bachan and her brother Boris Lukac. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Kathy Stanich, Wanda Krsinich-Miller, and Lyhn Haller, and her grandchildren, Melissa Stone, Justin Stanich, Dr. Danielle Krsinich Miller, Marlena Haller, Christian Haller and great-grandson, Thomas Stone.

Friends and family are invited to the viewing on Friday, February 17, 2017, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Spangler Mortuary, 399 South San Antonio Rd, Los Altos, California. Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Joseph's Church, 10110 North De Anza Blvd., Cupertino. The interment will be held at 12:15 p.m. at Gates of Heaven Cemetery, 22555 Cristo Rey Dr., Los Altos.
