Obituary of Sharon Rae Maloney
Sharon Rae Maloney, 66, of Los Altos Hills, CA, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at her home with family at her side. Sharon was born September 29, 1945, in River Falls, WI, the daughter of Ray and Myrle Titel. The family moved to Richmond, CA, when Sharon was 12 years old. She earned a B.S. in Mathematics from San Jose State University, and was employed for many years in the semiconductor industry, most recently as a senior software program manager at Lam Research Corporation in Fremont, CA. Sharon was united in marriage with Merrill J. (Jim) Maloney October 18, 1975, and they made their home in Los Altos Hills. They enjoyed traveling, boating, and participating in family activities during their years together. Sharon was devoted to animals, and had a special place in her heart for dogs - she loved them and they loved her. She was a generous and avid supporter of German Shepherd Rescue of Northern California, and provided foster care for many grateful German Shepherd Dogs. Sharon's family was the center of her life. Her house is filled with photographs of the children. She remembered every birthday, athletic event, and dance recital. No child in her family will ever forget Christmas with Sharon; she made it a monumental occasion, and she delighted in their excitement and joy. Sharon is survived by her daughters Kathleen Mercer, Chantilly, VA; Patricia (Dan) Helms, Sunnyvale, CA; and Cynthia (Joe) Sessions, Campbell, CA; grandchildren Jason Mercer, Lindsay Mercer, Deanna Sessions, Jacklyn Sessions, and Alexis Helms; great-grandchildren Caitlin and Eoin Mercer; sister-in-law Mary Roberts; niece Christin Veargason; nephew Dan Roberts; close friend James Pagano; and a large, loved, extended family. She also will be missed by her dogs Buddy, Billy, and Sable and by her cat Millie. Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her son-in-law Mark Mercer. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Spangler Mortuary, 399 South San Antonio Road, Los Altos. Visitation will begin at 3:00pm, followed by a service at 4:00pm.
