Obituary of Robert E. Boesenberg

Our dearly beloved father passed away peacefully at the age of 88 in Sonora CA with family by his side. A resident of Los Altos for over 60 years, he had recently moved to Sonora. Bob was born to the late Earl and Viola Boesenberg on February 14, 1927 in Oak Park, Illinois. After high school he served in the Navy in WWII aboard the USS Cabot during battles in the Pacific Theater. Following the war, he married our Mother and moved to Los Altos where he worked for the Stanford Linear Accelerator (SLAC) for over 30 years. At the time of his retirement he was a SCI/ENG Associate in the Klystron Group. Bob and Ann were married for 50 years. They shared a love for gardening, square dance and involvement with their church (Los Altos Lutheran). During the last years of Ann's life, as she struggled with cancer, Bob was her caretaker and nurse with un-ending love, patience and devotion. After Ann's passing in 2001, Bob was blessed to find a new life with Gabriele Kreuzer. They shared a love for travel and laughter, spending their time between her native Germany and Los Altos. Bob was known for his sense of humor, honesty and perseverance in all of his endeavors. Bob's outgoing compassion and humor made him a stranger to no one. Bob will be sadly missed by his two daughters and their husbands, Lori Kirk Wagner (Chris), of Lexington, KY and Karen Hebert (Dennis), of Sonora, CA; his 4 grandsons Daniel Kirk, Andrew Hebert, Matt Hebert and Nick Hebert; his fiancé and best friend Gabriele Kreuzer; his surviving sister Myrtle Peterson (90) and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his wife Ann, and by his brother Earl Boesenberg. A Service will be held at Los Altos Lutheran Church on Monday, June 15th at 1:00 pm, followed by a reception in the church hall. In memory of Bob, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice or to the Los Altos Lutheran Church. Funeral arrangements through Spangler Mortuaries - Los Altos, CA.
