Obituary of Richard Tibbs

Richard James Tibbs

8/9/1946 – 7/8/2019

Richard was born August 9, 1946, in Palo Alto, CA. A graduate of UC Berkeley, Richard moved to Volcano, CA and taught U.S. History at Amador High for one year.

Developing a career in construction, Richard later moved to Garden Valley, CA, became a licensed contractor, and built houses in El Dorado County and the North Shore of Lake Tahoe. Richard was a highly skilled craftsman and took great pride in doing all of the work himself.

Together with his second wife Jennifer Flowers, Richard had just one child, his daughter Elena, who he was rightfully proud of. He delighted in his two granddaughters, Calla & Carolina, and instilled in them his enthusiasm for life.

Achieving a long-time goal of becoming a licensed pilot, Richard bought a plane and began managing family properties in the Bay Area.

Richard had tremendous enthusiasm for life and the great outdoors. He loved sailing, snow skiing, backpacking, fishing, and rafting. Richard was always rallying those around him to join him in adventure. He was a natural leader, and set a great example with a 'Can do' positive attitude. Richard is survived by many family and friends whose lives he generously enriched. He will be held in many hearts with great love.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 20th at 10305 Kenbar Rd., Los Altos, CA at 12:00 noon. For information contact Shannon Gardner 775-742-0868.

In memory of Richard, the family suggest donations to Snowline Hospice in Placerville CA, or the Save the Redwoods League, savetheredwoods.org.
