Obituary of Richard E. Johnson
Richard E. Johnson (Dick), 90, a sixty year resident of Sunnyvale, CA, died October 9, 2011 at his home. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Pauline. He is survived by four children, Donna, Linda, Doreen and Rick and their spouses, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Dick was born in Lowell, MA and lived there with is family through high school. He met his wife, Polly, at Big Island Pond, New Hampshire and they married when he returned home from Pearl Harbor. They were married for 60 years. Dick was a World War II veteran and served in the Army Air Corp in Hawaii during the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He was honorably discharged from the Air Corp and returned home to Massachusetts. After graduation from Air Craft Mechanics School, he and his family moved to Sunnyvale and made it their home. He retired from a career of Air Craft Mechanic and Inspection with United Air Lines. After retirement he enjoyed playing golf, sailing on San Francisco Bay and dabbling in wood craving. Dick was a dedicated husband and father. His family was the main focus of his life and he was surrounded by love and laughter until his peaceful death at home.
