Richard D. Hughey, age 98, passed away peacefully in his home in Sunnyvale, CA on November 23, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 18, 1925 in WA to Harry M. Hughey and Ann M. Fritz.
He married the love of his life Patricia (Burkhardt) Hughey in Tacoma, WA on January 16, 1947, and celebrated 76 years of marriage together. Richard served his country honorably as a World War II Navy Veteran. He spent his entire career of 39 years as a Regional Manager at DuPont Corporation in Palo Alto. He enjoyed 37 years of retirement as an avid golfer, member of the SIRS Club, and world traveler.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Harriet, Dorsey, and Eugene Hughey. His grandson Richard and daughter-in-law Diane M. Hughey.
He is survived by his beloved wife Patricia Hughey; son Robert Hughey; grandchildren Codey & Nicholas Hughey, and Danielle Rathert; sister-in-law Winifred Strawn; niece Roxanne Worlock; great-grandchildren Aidan & Ava Rathert; Samantha & Brandon Hughey.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Richard's memory. Funeral services will be provided by Spangler Mortuary in Los Altos on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM. After the funeral service, a reception will be held to celebrate Richard's life and legacy that he leaves behind.
