Obituary of Regina Murphy
Regina (McMindes) Murphy was born in September 1911 to Elizabeth O'Hargan and John McMindes of El Paso Texas. She was an identical twin sister of Virginia Bagge and younger sister to John McMindes Jr and Sister Mary Lucille. She grew up in El Paso, TX and later graduated from Loretta Heights College in Denver, CO. She went on to get a nursing degree from Hotel Dieu in El Paso. After graduation she and Jerome Murphy of Denver, CO were married in Santa Fe, NM. During their marriage they lived in Texas, Jamaica, Cuba, Florida, and Missouri before eventually settling in the San Francisco bay area. They had three children Geraldine and Regina which live in California and John in Oregon. She is survived by her three children and five grandchildren. After retiring from nursing Regina lived an independent and active life. She was an accomplished bridge player, excellent swimmer and diver, an ardent baseball and football fan, all while helping to raise her grandchildren. Regina was a devout Catholic and attended St. Justin's Catholic Church in Santa Clara, CA regularly for many years, until health issues slowed her down. Regina was loved and is missed by all her family and friends whom she always made welcome.
