Obituary of Polly Ann Piggins

On December 16, 2020, Polly Ann Piggins, devoted wife and adoring mother, passed in the comfort of home, ending her five-and-a-half-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Polly was born in Seattle, WA on August 18, 1945 to the late William and Ruth Homer. She was the loving wife for 38 yrs of Edward S. Piggins and the proud mom of Annie (Piggins) Wisniewski and Teddy Piggins. In her final years, Polly took on a new title that she cherished, "Grandma." She was the proud grandmother of Samantha Wisniewski (22mo).

Polly is survived by her siblings, Cynthia Homer-Baron, William Homer and his wife Debra Homer. She leaves behind loving nieces, nephews, and friends who adored her.

Polly grew up in Syracuse, NY and graduated from Jamesville-Dewitt High in 1963. She earned her B.S.Ed in Elementary Education from Ohio University in 1967 and her Master's in Reading Education from Oakland University in Michigan in 1978. Her love of learning and passion for children drove her to become an elementary school teacher for nearly 20 yrs in Birmingham, MI. When her family moved to California in 1985, Polly left teaching and went into business with her husband.

Polly's happiness was her family and her children. She lived for family dinners and holidays and cherished every minute with her kids. "Mom" was the name she was born to have.

In her final years, Polly displayed superhuman strength and an unwavering determination to beat her diagnosis. She put up the fight of her life and did it with dignity and grace. She was a remarkable woman and the very best mom.

Burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery on December 29 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance in Polly's name.
