January 19, 1951 – April 15, 2020

Born in Palo Alto, California, Peter is the son of Louis Thomas Almendarez and Rosa Almendarez. After a long battle with cancer, he peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones.

Peter attended and graduated from Sunnyvale High School in 1969 and enlisted into the United States Navy during the Vietnam era where he served from 1969 – 1973. Peter was first stationed in Memphis, Tennessee and then transferred to Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, DC then onto Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville, Florida

He married the love of his life Susan "Sue" Lolling Almendarez on August 14, 1971 and had two boys Peter Jr. and Michael.

Peter and Sue lived most of their life together in Sunnyvale, California and he worked as a Shipping and Receiving Supervisor at a variety of high-tech companies throughout the Bay Area. Peter was a huge San Francisco 49ers fan and season ticket holder. He would take every opportunity to attend the home games and rarely missed a game. His collection of San Francisco 49ers memorabilia covers the hallway and almost every room in his house. Peter and Sue loved watching their godchild, Franchesca Perales, play fastpitch softball from T-Ball all the way through college softball. During his retirement he enjoyed watching all his all-time favorite John Wayne movies and had a huge passion for BBQ. He loved traveling with his wife and spending time with his Illinois and Arizona families. He'll always be remembered for having a great sense of humor, huge heart and making everyone smile.

Peter is preceded in death by his sons Peter Andrew Jr. and Michael Thomas, his father Louis and his brother Louie. He is survived by his wife Susan of 48 years; his mother Rosa Almendarez; his sisters Angie Nau (Warren) of Chandler, Arizona, Pat Morrison (Tim) of Wasco, California, and sister-in-law Evelyn Almendarez (Louie) along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He will be laid to rest with both his son's Peter Jr and Michael at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.

Due to the pandemic, a Memorial Mass at St. Martin Catholic Church in Sunnyvale, Ca and interment at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery in Santa Clara, Ca will take place at a later date with Military funeral honors.
