Patricia "Pat" Switzer, 93, of Sunnyvale, CA., passed away June 11, 2023. Born in Kansas City, she was the daughter of Clell Thomas and Virgil Marie (Wasmer) Rice. She is survived by her brother-in-law Phil Pantleo and partner Mary Applegate; her children, Sheryl Miller, Larry and Cathy Switzer, and Steve and Heidi Switzer; grandchildren Saundra and Steve Flohr, Rachel Miller, Stephanie and Stephen Skinner, Sarah and Chris Russell, Brianna and Corey Cullen, Corinne Grey Cloud, Andrew and Robin Perera; nieces and nephews Lee Ann and Larry Raulie, David and Brenda Pantleo, Russell Pantleo and Wayne Foster, Michael and Jenny Pantleo; 14 great-grandchildren; and many cousins, great-nieces and -nephews and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Terrence Thomas Switzer, husband William "Bill" Switzer, sister Clella "Teddy" Pantleo, and son-in-law Paul Miller.

Pat was raised in Kansas City, a 1947 graduate of Paseo High School. She married Bill in 1949, and moved to Texas, Southern California and Florida before returning to California and settling in Sunnyvale in 1968. Known to many as "Grandma Pat", she had a career in childcare at California Young World and the Sunnyvale First United Methodist Church. With Bill, she traveled the US in their various RVs, including making the long trek on the Alaska Highway with Phil and Teddy. Upon 'retirement', she extended her involvement with United Methodist Women as president and member, working in ministries locally and throughout the world, and helping to raise funds by managing and participating in over 20 years' worth of annual Rummage Sales and Holiday Fairs. With her adult children, she expanded her already-extensive U.S. travel to other countries, including China, Ireland, Italy, Germany, France, Great Britain, Turkey, Greece and Crete. Her interests involved birding, sewing, crocheting, quilting, gardening, camping, watching and attending San Francisco Giants games, and spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
