Obituary of Murray King Ross

Murray King Ross passed to a better world with no pain at home with his loved companion of 8 years, JoAnn Barr. His beloved wife of 55 years, Phyllis Ross and his many cherished dogs greeted Murray in his new world. He leaves a daughter, Pam MacChlerie of Honolulu, daughter, Laura Osborn and husband Mike of Portland, and son, Gary Ross of Mountain View. Murray was born in Jamaica, New York, and grew up in Redondo Beach CA. Later his family migrated to the San Francisco Bay area. He served in World War II in the Navy and told many stories, including recuperating in Melbourne for 9 months before the Navy found him and reassigned him. He loved his career as s Structural Engineer and always pointed out buildings in which he had been involved. He received a Bachelors degree from USC and was very proud of his Master's degree from Stanford at age 40. Murray was very proud and hopeful for his 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was a member of Kiwanis in San Francisco for many years, left the area for Paso Robles, then back to the Bay area and became a member of the Kiwanis Club of Silicon Valley, a Member of SPARC (South Peninsula Area Republican Coalition), and a member of the Presbyterian Church of Sunnyvale. Murray requested no memorial service. He will be interred at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Hollywood with wife, Phyllis. Donations may be made in his honor for the Fisher House at the VA Hospital at 3801 Miranda Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94304. He and the family were grateful for the wonderful ongoing care given by the doctors at the VA Hospital.
