Monsignor Andre, a retired priest of the Dioceses of San Jose passed away peacefully on 08/05/2022, at the age of 91, surrounded by family.

Born on October 6, 1930 in Modesto, CA to Ludwig Andre and Clara Kepple. Monsignor Andre attended Modesto High School, graduating in 1948. He attended St. Patrick's College in Mountain View from 1949 to 1953, earning a degree in Philosphy. In 1953 he entered St. Patrick's Seminary in Menlo Park and was ordained to the priesthood on June 15, 1957 at St. Mary's Cathedral in San Francisco. Monsignor Andre's first assignment was at St. Luke's in Stockton, where he took on the role of assistant pastor. This was followed by assignment at Serra High School in 1959, where he served as faculty until 1970, when he was named Principal. He served as Principal at Serra High School from 1970 to 1975. In 1965 during his stay at Serra he obtained his Master's Degree in Teaching of Mathematics from Santa Clara University. Following his 16 year assignment at Serra High School, Monsignor Andre was the acting President - Principal at St Joseph's High School/Seminary in Mountain View.

In 1979, Father Andre was appointed Pastor at St. Mary's in Gilroy. He served that community until 1989, when he was appointed Pastor at St. Simon in Los Altos. He was at St Simon from 1989 through 2000. During his time at St. Simon, he was conferred the title of Monsignor by Bishop Patrick J. McGrath in an October 21, 2000 ceremony at St. Joseph's Cathedral in San Jose. Monsignor Andre retired in 2002 and moved into the rectory of St. Joseph of Cupertino. After a brief stint at St. Joseph's, he purchased a home the town of Arnold in the Sierra Foothills where he resided for 16 years. During his time in the foothills, he said mass at Our Lady of Sierra and St. Patrick's. In February 2022, Monsignor Andre moved back to the Bay Area and into St. Joseph's of Cupertino rectory where he remained until his death.

He is survived by his sister, Helen Baumgartner and a large group of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews that will remember his love of the mountains, his dog, his ski's, a great plate of appetizers and family and friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Monsignor Andre will be held at 10 am on August 13, 2022 at St Simon Church at Los Altos. Reception to follow in Monsignor Andre Center at St. Simon.
