It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and wife, who left us peacefully on July 22nd after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.

Born in Sindh, her extraordinary journey took her from Colombo, Sri Lanka, to Shillong, India, Taipei, Miami, Dallas, and finally Foster City, California. Through every chapter, she was our foundation—a fiercely protective mom with a heart of boundless kindness, who always ensured her children had the very best, no matter the sacrifices required.

A true Renaissance woman, she was fiercely independent, fluent in five languages, a published author, and earned her Master’s degree at 40 to teach at the Taipei American School. Her deep love for children made teaching her lifelong passion—a warmth so innate that even in the depth of her illness, her face would light up whenever she saw a child. Her quiet generosity touched countless lives, though she never sought credit for the time and support she gave so freely.

To her grandchildren—Keya, Devan, Navi, and Rohan—she was a cherished guide and inspiration, so much so that her own journey inspired them to pursue fields like neuroscience and cognitive science.

Her life was a masterclass in devotion, matched only by our father, who served as her steadfast guardian angel for the past decade, faithfully fulfilling the promise he made on their wedding day. We take peace in knowing her final years were wrapped in the warmth, comfort, and presence of the family she lived for.

Though she will be missed beyond words, her spirit, her stories, and her legacy live on in each of us. Rest in peace.
