Michael Joseph Elliott died peacefully surrounded by family at his home on November 15, 2018 in Los Altos Hills, California at the age of 83.

Born on March 3, 1935, Mike was the youngest of five siblings to William Henry Elliott of Minnesota and Rose Alma Fortier of Cowley, Alberta, Canada.

Mike is survived by his wife Lorna of 59 years, his son Scott, his son Peter and daughter Erin (Grant), his four grandchildren Travis, Ruby, Sunny and Addison, and one great-grandson, Oliver. He is proceeded in death by his brother William, brother Henry, sister Rosemary and sister Theresa.

Mike was born in Richmond, California. He proudly served in the U.S. Army touring Europe as a jazz bassist entertaining troops during the Korean War. He graduated from San Jose State University in 1960 with a degree in industrial relations and was a proud member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity. He married Lorna Valeria Tyrell-Smith, his college love, who he met one summer at Lake Tahoe while they were both working at Harrah's. They were married on August 29, 1959 in Piedmont, California. After moving to the Peninsula to start a career at Hiller Aircraft in Palo Alto, they decided to first settle in Mountain View before making a permeant home in Los Altos Hills.

Mike had a successful 40-year career in the Silicon Valley as an executive in the electronics industry at various start-up companies.

Mike was an avid sailor, competitive swimmer, golfer, runner and tennis player. He also had a creative side and enjoyed painting, writing, and playing his stand-up bass in classical and big bands.

Mike dedicated a huge amount of his time serving on the boards of non-profit organizations that were near and dear to his heart: Crippled Children's Society (now Via), Peninsula Stroke Association, Pathways Hospice and many more.

A funeral is scheduled for 10:00 am on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Saint Nicholas Catholic Church in Los Altos.
