Obituary of Mary Ann Jensen
Mary Ann Jensen beloved wife, sister, aunt and friend passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the age of 68. She was born in San Jose, CA on December 2, 1943 and lived in Mountain View, CA most of her life. Mary Ann (Panten) Jensen had six siblings. Grace, Mary, Jean and Betty were half sisters; Carol and brother Arnold John Taylor were full siblings. All are deceased. She is survived by her immediate family; sister-in-law Sandra Jean (Stornes) Taylor; nieces Suzanne (Taylor) Grass, Gretchen Grace (Taylor) Daniels, and Carol Hunt and niece-in-law Mai Hunt; nephew Ronald John Taylor; and long time friend Delma White. Mary's many pastimes included knitting, crocheting, ceramics, jewelry making, gardening, and her love for cats. Her signature was Mary Poppins and she loved to go to Disneyland. She was a very giving individual and supported local hospitals and various charities. Mary worked for Lockheed for over thirty years. She was Budget Analyst for Manufacturing Engineering for most of her time spent at Lockheed. She was a very dedicated employee and enjoyed her work. She made many friends and to this day a small group of eight ladies enjoy getting together for lunch once a month. Mary and her husband Larry enjoyed traveling until he passed away in 1989. After retiring from Lockheed Mary was looking forward to enjoying traveling and doing things she had on her "bucket list". Unfortunately, she only had a few months to enjoy her retirement before her first bout of cancer. The past ten years Mary has had to fighter cancer on and off. She would book her travel between cancer treatments and tried to enjoy doing things she loved to do. Her favorite places locally were Monterey and Santa Cruz. The lunch dates with her friends were getting more difficult because of the debilitating treatments. Mary's last cruise was to the Panama Canal just months before her last challenge with cancer. Shortly after her return from Panama Mary was diagnosed with an inoperable cancer. She accepted the challenge to treat the tumor aggressively. It was difficult to watch her go through the weekly treatments, but she put up a good fight. On December 22, 2011, Mary was taken from us. She was ready to go as the treatments took her energy and her desire to do things. Mary was a good friend and was always there to lend a hand. She will be missed greatly, but we know she is without pain and is finally at peace. A small memorial for immediate family and friends will be held a later date.
