Obituary of Marion June Martin Merritt
Marion June Martin Merritt, 95, of Sunnyvale, California, passed away July 28th, 2014 in Mountain View, California. Her memorial service will be held at Spangler Mortuary, 174 N. Sunnyvale Ave., Sunnyvale, on Saturday, August 2nd at 11:00 am. with Reverend Harrington of Sunnyvale Presbyterian officiating. Marion was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin to Elvaree and Otto Martin on January 27, 1919. She went to high school in Waukesha and graduated in 1936. She went on to receive further education as a Music major at Lake Forrest College, IL She was a church choir director and organist for several Methodist congregations, and taught piano to both children and adults for over 40 years. Her passions were classical music, painting, sewing and decorating. She sponsored several children in Africa, and with her husband, Bud, traveled to over 45 countries around the world. Marion influenced her family and her many piano students to appreciate and excel in the arts. She was a blessing to many. Marion is survived by her husband of 62 years, Elisha Benjamin Merritt III, along with: daughter Sharyl Dobson, son-in-law Jack Dobson of Cedarburg, WI; grandsons Ken Mobile, Chris Mobile (preceded), Whitney and his wife Margaret Dobson, great-grand daughter Abbey; sons Ross and Kent Merritt of Sunnyvale, CA; daughter Pamela Goodwin, son-in-law, Daniel Goodwin and granddaughters, Nicole and Brenna Goodwin, of Phoenix, AZ. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the hospital staff at El Camino Hospital, and also to Southwest Airlines, for all their loving support during this time.
