Obituary of Maria H. Staiger

Mary passed away with her loving family near her side in Los Altos. A long time resident of Cupertino, she is survived by her Loving Husband of 50 years, William Staiger of Cupertino, CA, her daughter Susan Hellmann of Geneva, IL, her son John Staiger of Chico, CA, and her sister Leona Schueler of Kingston, NY, along with her three grandsons Max Hellmann, Ben Staiger and Teddy Staiger. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Simons Catholic Church, Los Altos, CA on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 10:30am. Luncheon to follow at the family home. Mary grew up in Austria with a loving family including five sisters. In 1945 she walked out of her home town just in front of the Russian Occupation Force. She attended University in Austria and obtained a teaching credential. Mary immigrated to the United States in 1953 where she settled in New York with members of her family. She enjoyed her travels across the United States from Hawaii to Montana. In 1959 she met her future husband Bill in Southern California, married in New York and settled in California for 50 years. While raising her family she also enjoyed a successful career in Real Estate. Mary was passionate about her three grandchildren, classical music, cooking, traveling over seas, and her family.
