Marcia Williams
Vosti
Sep 7, 1932 — Jun 11, 2026
Marcia Jean Vosti (née Williams), a cherished mother, grandmother, artist, and community member, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026 at Stanford University Hospital . She was 93 years old.
Born on September 7, 1932, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Howard and Elizabeth Williams, Marcia displayed a deep sense of curiosity and creativity from an early age. She attended Murray High School in St. Paul before pursuing higher education at Grinnell College in Iowa for one year. She later earned her degree in Social Work from the University of Minnesota.
In 1954, Marcia married Dr.Gordon Vosti, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and partnership until his passing in 2023. Together they built a family filled with warmth and laughter. Marcia is survived by her daughter Ann (Lloyd Leanse), and sons David (Eileen) and Hugh; her grandchildren Eric (Marshé) and Michael Rogers; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon, her brother Howard Y. Williams Jr., and her parents.
Marcia was a gifted artist whose talent for painting brought beauty to life. Her remarkable creativity extended beyond the canvas—she was an accomplished seamstress and knitter who poured care into every project she undertook. Her artistic pursuits were a testament to her dedication and selflessness; she set aside her passion for painting when Gordon’s vision began to fail so he would not feel excluded.
Music held a special place in Marcia’s heart, and she often joked that in another life she would be an opera singer. Her voice brought joy to those around her, as did her lively spirit at the bridge table, where she played with skill, wit, and just the right amount of competitive flair.
Marcia’s generosity was boundless. Whether providing meals or warm clothing to those in need or helping loved ones with travel expenses or special projects, she always found ways to support others. She delighted in giving thoughtful gifts during the holidays and never hesitated to pick up the tab at dinner.
An active member of her community throughout her life, Marcia served as president of the PEO Sisterhood—a role she took great pride in—and participated in organizations such as the Hillcresters and Delphian Study Club. As a dedicated PTA mom, she supported her children’s education while fostering connections within the school community.
Marcia’s intellectual curiosity remained vibrant throughout her life. She stayed engaged with current events and literature as an avid reader. Though cooking wasn’t her favorite pastime, she excelled at it nonetheless—preparing meals with care for those she loved and earning acclaim for her excellent lemon meringue pie.
Above all else, Marcia cared deeply for her family and friends. Her kindness knew no bounds; she gave generously of her time and resources while creating lasting memories through shared experiences.
Marcia’s legacy is one of creativity, compassion, and connection—a life well-lived that touched countless others along the way. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her as they celebrate the remarkable woman she was.
The family wishes to thank Oakmont of Redwood City for their care of Marcia in the last several years of her life.
Special thanks to Arnel Roca and his brother Jay for their extra care of Marcia. So many memories.
