Lynette Wilma (Lynne) Sweet was born in Iowa on October 23, 1936 to James Edward Proffitt and Norma Margaret Schmidt.

She died peacefully at her home in Los Altos on June 19, 2020.

Lynne met and married John Sweet, the love of her life, in Iowa. They moved to Colorado before moving to California. When they arrived, they lived in Palo Alto and then settled in Los Altos. Lynne loved living in Los Altos. She worked at the Stanford Graduate School of Business for many years. After she retired, she became a volunteer at Stanford Hospital [Pink Ladies] she loved taking pictures of newborn babies. Eventually she worked part time for the Stanford Athletic Department she loved everything Stanford sports! Go Trees!!

She loved sports; Lynne was a long-time fan of Stanford Football. A regular home game tailgater under the trees. She was also an avid pro sports fan loving the San Francisco Giants, San Francisco 49ers, but her absolute favorite team was the Warriors. She loved them very much never missed any games on TV.

In her 40 something years of marriage to John, they loved spending time in Hawaii, returning year after year to their special in Kona Village Resort.

She was an avid tennis player and became well known in many groups within Los Altos and Palo Alto. She had many friends and loved hosting large groups of them, especially at the holidays.

All of us who knew her were blessed to have her in our lives. She will be missed more than words can express.

Lynne was preceded in death by her husband John and daughter Sharon. Due to Covid, private services have been held but we hope to hold a celebration of her life at a future time when the Covid risk subsides. Rest in Peace Sweet Lady
