Obituary of Luciana P. Maldonado
Luciana passed away after a short illness in Sunnyvale, where she had resided for over 65 years. She retired from California Canners and Growers, where she spent years overseeing the quality control of the fruits and vegetables coming off of the line. She stayed in contact with her "cannery family" and never missed the annual reunion of her Libby's and Cal Can friends. She is survived by her daughter Jo Ann Ellers, her son John Lenseigne, 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and their families. She is also survived by her brother Joe Tamayo, her sisters Nancy Yates and Josephine Zalace and their families, along with many nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Manuel Maldonado, her son Ronald Maldonado and her sisters Rosie Sanchez and Alice Silva. Luciana will forever be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin, well loved by everyone. She was well known for her kindness, unselfishness, love of gardening and shopping at the Goodwill. Luciana embraced her Spanish heritage, loved to sing Spanish songs from her childhood and was always the first one on the dance floor at any celebration. Luciana will be laid to rest with her companion in life, Robert Popovich, in a private ceremony at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Alzheimer's Association of Northern Nevada.
