Lillian Hull passed away peacefully on August 30, 2024. She was known for her deep commitment to family, work, and helping others.
Lillian grew up in Dearborn, Michigan. She earned a Bachelor of Science in computer science from the University of Michigan. After graduation, she moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and went to work for HP Labs as a performance engineer, where she met her husband. HP sponsored her as a Resident Fellow, and she obtained a Master of Science in computer science from Stanford University. She went on to work at several companies including Sun Microsystems, NetApp, and Cisco and transitioned from engineering to product management. Lillian volunteered at Second Harvest Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, Toastmasters, and Stanford Healthcare. She enjoyed hiking with friends and family and loved to travel. Her favorite destinations included Yosemite, Germany, Iceland, and New Zealand. She was an avid reader and an active member of a book club. She is the author of a memoir called A Gifted Child: Stories from My Life , which details her experiences growing up in Michigan, moving to California, and raising a family.
Lillian is survived by her husband James, daughters Sarah and Rachel, and sister Lori (Tom) Newell, along with three nieces and nine great nieces and nephews. She was extremely bright, loyal, and caring. She had a radiant smile and was always willing to lend a helping hand or listening ear. She will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network .
