Lila Lucille Williams was born on July 31, 1932 in Vandalia Illinois. Her parents were Hulda Marie Lape and Clarence Monroe Williams. She had a brother named Fred, a stepmother named Ruth, stepbrothers named Edward and Herbert, and stepsisters named Dorothy and Helen. The Williams family is deeply rooted in American history. Lila is a direct descendent of Roger Williams, the founder of the Rhode Island Colony. She has ancestors who fought in the American Revolution, Civil War, and many other conflicts. Lila attended school in Vandalia. She graduated from high school in 1950. She worked as a homemaker and at various times held jobs at car dealership, funeral home, and as an accountant at an electronics firm called NEC. She volunteered at the library at Cupertino High School and at her church.
She married Keith Kirkpatrick in 1953. Lila had two children: Bradley in 1956, and Brenda in 1962. She was a devoted and loving mother. She had two grandchildren: Daniel and Thomas Di Giacomo.
After the passing of her husband in 1999, Lila remarried in 2002. Her second husband was Reginald Young. She had four adult stepchildren: Reginald Jr., Michael, Ronald and Kathleen. Reginald died in 2011. Lila was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, her brother Fred, her husbands Keith and Reginald, her stepson Ronald, and her son Bradley.
Lila is survived by her daughter Brenda and her husband Richard Di Giacomo, her stepchildren Reginald Jr., Michael, and Kathleen, her daughter-in-law Autmne, and her grandchildren Daniel and Thomas.
Lila attended Baptist churches in Vandalia and Sunnyvale before joining Sunnyvale First Assembly church in the early 1970s. She has attended the same church faithfully as it has moved and changed names over time. She has been a member of the church for over fifty years. She has been a model of faithfulness and devotion to God. Lila passed away on December 20, 2024. She lived to be 92 years old.
A memorial for Lila will be held at Sunnyvale International Church on January 11, 2025.
