Kishore Dattatraya
Karnad
January 4, 1940 – November 9, 2022
On November 9, 2022, Kishore Karnad passed away peacefully surrounded by close family in Saratoga, CA.
Kishore was born on January 4, 1940 in Mumbai, India. A thoroughly self-made man, he chose education as his ticket to a better life and went on to get a Bachelor's Degree followed by a Law degree in India. Following his education, he embarked on a nearly 40-year career first in sales and then eventually as a Human Resources practitioner.
During this time, he got married to Sheela Dhareshwar in 1970, raised a wonderful family comprising of two kids Subodh and Sucheta and built a successful career first in India and then when the opportunity presented itself in 1981, he moved to Saudi Arabia and spent over 12 years in the Middle east region. Kishore returned to India in 1993 and re-started his HR career there and got involved in the local community. In 2006, Kishore moved to California to be closer to his son who had settled in the Sunnyvale area and very soon embraced the US as his new home.
Unfortunately, In early 2016, he was diagnosed with advanced stage lung cancer. The prognosis was not great but Kishore, then 76 years old, took it on and fought bravely for nearly 7 years. His motto was simple "I will not let cancer control me". His brevity, resilience, and grace for the entire period was exemplary. While cancer affected his body, it made no dent in his spirit or persona. He stayed positive and fought till the very end.
Kishore was an avid reader and indulged in books of all kinds. He enjoyed watching movies and loved trying out new cuisines. But throughout his life, his family was his passion and priority. He gave boundless love and attention to his kids and his grandchildren.
Kishore is survived by his wife Sheela. His son, Subodh. His daughter -in-law Manisha. His daughter, Sucheta. His Son-in-law Abhijit and three grandchildren Rahil, Reeva and Armaan.
