Obituary of Kevin John Coughlin

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Kevin John Coughlin, b. 7/5/1948 entered into eternal rest on 3/15/2013 in Redwood City, CA. Born in Tallahassee, FL, to Dr. Paul Coughlin and Claire Busby Coughlin, he graduated Leon High School in '66 before enlisting in the Marines. He proudly served in the Vietnam War, and moved to California in the early 70s. He was very passionate about his service in AA, Peninsula Bible Church, Menlo Park Presbyterian Church, Street Life Ministries and the VA hospital. Kevin worked in the Silicon Valley for 20 years, before responding to his Father's call to become a Chaplain at the VA hospital. At the time of his death he had obtained his M. Div. and was working on his BS in Psychology. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Brian and infant brother Donald. He is survived by siblings Richard, Louise, Carroll, Hannah, Kathleen, Terrence, Timothy and Brendan; daughters Amy and Melissa; grandchildren Kristin, Gus Jr., Dylan, Brenden and Aaron; as well as 12 nieces and 9 nephews, and 8 great nieces and 7 great nephews. He was a humble, dear friend to so many, and he will be loved and missed. Arrangements have been made by Spangler Mortuaries. A memorial service will be held at Peninsula Bible Church, (650) 494-3840, 3505 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto, CA, on April 27, 1-3PM. Kevin will be laid to rest at Skylawn Memorial Park, San Mateo County, time and date TBD. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Peninsula Bible Church or the Palo Alto VA Hospital.
