Kenneth Ray
Lawrence
March 22, 1958 – May 31, 2022
Raised on a humble farm in Lawley, Alabama, Ken was the youngest of nine children. In 1979, he graduated from the radiologic technology program of University of Alabama. That same year, he moved to California and met Debbie at church. Ken married his wife Debbie in 1982, and they moved to San Jose in 1984.
Ken worked most notably for Kaiser Hospital as a radiology technician and then an assistant manager. He had a passion for his work, however his career was cut short in 1993 due to a disability. Despite his disability, he went on to achieve a BA degree in business from University of Phoenix in 1998 and eventually started an online business.
He also had a creative, tinkering spirit throughout his life, represented notably with his passion for restoring antique radios. Ken's farming roots were always apparent in his many gardens. He treasured family above all else in life.
He is survived by his wife, two sisters, a son and daughter, four grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Remembrances may be made in the form of contributions to the American Lung Association.
The family is grateful for the loving care that Ken received from Stanford and VITAS Healthcare.
