Our beloved Keith Willems May passed unexpectedly on July 23, 2022, at 43. He was born in Mountain View, CA, to Peggy Hori and David May on November 7, 1978, and raised in Campbell, California.
A graduate of Del Mar High School in 1997, Keith immersed himself in various activities, including football and musical theater, and played bass in a punk band called Pigz en Space. Keith attended Foothill Community College, where he studied radio broadcasting and found his calling as a DJ for the college station, KFJC. While DJ'ing under the name of Kalvin G Krebs, Keith found a home to express his creativity freely and made life-long friends with like-minded individuals. After graduating from Foothill College, he attended San Jose State University and studied Social Sciences. He was a gifted writer, volunteered as a peer tutor, and graduated on the Dean's List in 2005.
Keith was extremely loyal, hard-working, and committed in every job he held. He specifically demonstrated these qualities while working at the Mountain Surplus Store from 1996-2016. He was also the building manager at the apartment complex where he lived. He took great pride and joy in this role, where he excelled as a "jack of all trades."
He was a local activist to better his community -- participating in town hall meetings and sharing his views on social justice. Keith also volunteered at the San Jose Peace and Justice Center, where he'll be named posthumously to the Coordinating Council, which is responsible for day to day operations of the center. Keith loved music, the outdoors, travel, and diverse cuisines. He especially enjoyed riding his bike around the town he loved so much.
Keith was undoubtedly one of a kind and pure of heart. His warm smile, all-encompassing hugs, and quirky personality impacted everyone he encountered. He is a beautiful soul and is deeply missed by the loved ones he left behind.
Keith is survived by his parents, sisters, brothers, niece, nephew, and a large extended family and friends.
We will celebrate Keith's life at Spangler Mortuary on Sunday August 7, 2022 @ 11 AM.
