Jyotindra Acharya, popularly known as Dr. J. D. Acharya, passed away peacefully in the early morning of April 15, 2026, at his home in Mountain View, California, surrounded by his family. He lived his life with practicality and clarity and, aware of his diagnosis, approached his final days with the same quiet resolve and dignity that defined him.

A self-made man, he devoted his life to supporting and uplifting his family. Through every challenge and triumph, he stood as a pillar of strength, always present in times of need. He was deeply respected and admired by all who knew him, especially his family, who looked up to him with great reverence.

Beyond his family, Dr. Acharya built a remarkable legacy over a 42-year career in education. Holding a Ph.D. in Mathematics, he contributed extensively as an author of books, articles, and textbooks for the Gujarat Board, and served as the Principal of reputed science college in Gujarat, India. His work touched the lives of countless students - millions who learned from his teachings and thousands who went on to make meaningful contributions to society, a source of immense pride for him.

Even after retirement, his passion for teaching never faded. He continued to volunteer his time teaching mathematics to students in both India and the United States, always choosing a life of humility and purpose over recognition.

He remained independent, disciplined, diligent, and strong throughout his life, embodying resilience and self-reliance. He chose to demonstrate these values rather than preaching them. He is survived by his wife of 61 years and the mother of his five children.

Pappa, you are loved by many and have inspired countless others. You lived a life of dignity, practicality, and integrity. Thank you for everything you gave us and for the lasting impact you have had on our lives. We are forever proud to be your children. You will live on not only with your family, but also through the countless students to whom you imparted knowledge. We hope you find the eternal peace and mukti you deserve.

Cremation and services will be held on Tuesday, April 21, starting at 10:30 AM at Spangler Mortuary in Sunnyvale, attended by family and dear friends to celebrate his remarkable life.
