N. Joyce Margaroli (nee Foster), 96 of Portola Valley, CA passed away on June 10, 2022, of pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Bentley (nee Margaroli); son-in-law, John Bentley, Jr.; granddaughter, Rachael Bentley: grandson, John Bentley III; great-grandson, Russell McKinney and nephew, Stephen Khouri. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Margaroli; daughter, Gail Margaroli, and brother Stephen Foster. She will be missed by her family whom she cherished, especially her great-grandson who gave her much joy.
Her life began in Alhambra, California on May 26, 1926, where she happily spent her early years with her grandparents in their grocery stores in Los Angeles. The depression years were tough and they moved around quite a bit, she attended elementary school in Soquel, Hollywood, Idaho, and Santa Cruz and high school in Atascadero and San Luis Obispo, where she met her future husband. During the war, she worked at an airplane factory as a Rosie the Riveter. Bill and Joyce married in San Diego and moved to Redwood City after WWII to raise their two daughters and William went to work for United Air Lines. Joyce and Bill traveled the world extensively.
She was credited with starting the Racqueteers Tennis Club, was the first president, and was a lifetime member. She will be remembered by the members of the club.
Joyce was a long-time resident of the Sequoias Portola Valley and spent many happy years there spreading her endless energy and joy.
Joyce was a faithful servant and long-time member of the Menlo Park Presbyterian Church. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on July 10th at 2:30 at the Sequoias Portola Valley Hanson Hall. The public is welcome to attend. Interment will be with family at the San Luis Cemetary, in San Luis Obispo, California.
Memorial donations may be made to the Sequoias Portola Valley where she lived for 15 years or to Fortitude Careers, her daughter's non-profit organization helping young adults build life skills and job readiness for the trades.
