Obituary

Joyce C. Kihnley, loving daughter of James and Mary DiDuca, was born on September 1, 1930 in Port Huron, Michigan. She was a beloved sister to her four siblings, Mark, Dorothy, Joseph and Estella. They shared a deep bond of love throughout their lives. Some of her fondest memories were growing-up on the family farm together. Joyce graduated from Port Huron High School in 1949 and received a diploma from Port Huron Business College in 1953. She later had a career as a nutrition specialist at the local school. After her family moved together to California, Joyce met Norman and fell in love. They were married for 43 years until he passed and are reunited in Heaven now.

Joyce loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. She also adored her dog, Mocha, and her three cats, Jazz, Alpha and Shy. Her family will miss their beloved Mom and Nana who never gave up, especially on her journey of recovery. She was a source of inspiration, laughter and strength. Her home was always open to family and friends who would stop by to see their sweet Joyce. She was dearest Nana Joyce to her grandson's friends and their families, and dearly loved Aunt Joyce to her nieces and nephews. Throughout her life, Joyce was an avid follower of the news and politics. Summers meant sitting on the front porch at her house, engaging in lively conversations about life and world events. She also had a passion for music, playing the organ and singing for the church choir. Gardening was a favorite pastime as she tended to her roses and loved Spring with the blossoming of the flowers that abound at her house.

Joyce is survived by her two children, Michael and Jennifer, her grandson, Aidan, and her son-in-law, Mark. She also is survived by her brother, Joseph, brother-in-law, Jerome, and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 11 a.m. at St. Cyprian Church, 195 Leota Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94086. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Joyce C. Kihnley to St. Cyprian, the American Heart Association or the Disabled Veterans National Foundation.
