Josephine (Jo) succumbed to dementia on October 18, 2023.

She is survived by her brother, sister-in-law, nephew, niece, cousins, and many close friends.

Josephine was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 21, 1942, to Frank and Sophie Stiene. Following her graduation from All Saints High School and Pace University, she began her career as an Administrative Assistant, working in New York City for many years before relocating to California in 1978 where she remained a resident of Palo Alto until her death.

Jo was dedicated to the care of her parents and her Catholic faith. An avid life-long reader and traveler in her young adult years, Jo was a member of the St. Nicholas Catholic Church Bridges to Community volunteer group as well as serving as a Eucharist Minister where she made many treasured friendships throughout the years.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Los Altos on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 1:00pm followed by a catered reception next door in the church hall between 2:00 and 4:00pm.
Internment services will be private for immediate family and held the following day at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Nicholas and St. William Parish may be given in Josephine's name.
