Obituary of John Arlen McKay

John Arlen McKay passed away peacefully due to complications related to Alzheimer's disease on October 25th with family members by his side. John was born in the town of Keokuk, Iowa, to John Henry and Mildred Dorothy McKay. The son of a tenant farmer he moved around the Illinois and Iowa area until his mid-teens when the family settled back into Keokuk where family member still live to this day. John entered the army and served in Korea after the conflict where he met his wife Soon Im. They had a son, John, in Korea and returned to America where he pursued his college degree in mathematics. In the early sixties the family moved to Mountain View, California, where they had their second son James Lee. In California John worked for Lockheed as a scientist and earned his master's degree in mathematics from the University of Santa Clara. He worked at Lockheed until his retirement where his interests in classical music, spending time with his wife, caring for the family's dogs, and trips to Reno filled his days. He is survived by his wife Soon Im, sons John K. (Michelle) and James Lee, his brother Samuel Thomas McKay (Sharon), and sisters Kaye Branson (George) and Carolyn Dodson (Norm). John is surely in a comfortable place with his classical music, a bowl of ice cream, and two loving Schipperkes by his side.
