Obituary of John William Lowry

John Lowry, age 86, died September 27, 2013 at the VA Palo Alto Hospital where he was given excellent caring care. John, an army veteran of 22 years, served in the Korean War as well as First Sergeant of Nike Missile sites in Los Angeles, Germany 2 times (once while the Berlin Wall was being built), and at the Marin Headlands. He was a dedicated soldier. After he retired he worked for Dodge Truck for many years as one of their sales representatives in most of the West Coast Rodeos. He enjoyed his Rodeo profession. John was also lucky and he enjoyed playing bingo. He also was an avid golfer and fisherman. John was born in Shanksville, PA the 3rd child of Taylor and Victoria Lowry's 11 children. He is survived by 2 brothers (Pat & Frank) and 4 sisters (Betty, Ada, Mary Alice and Vicky). He is also survived by Charlotte, his former wife, but forever loving companion and three loving sons, John Jr., Joel, and Jeff (Kim). Also, survived by 3 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Friday, October 4, 2013 at 1:00PM at Spangler Wyant & Smith Funeral Home, 174 N. Sunnyvale Avenue, followed by a gathering of food and friendship at John's home at 451 Carroll Street in Sunnyvale.
