Joan Hausman, 83, passed away on February 9, 2025, at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on November 28, 1941, to Harry and Mildred Rascoe in New Britain, Connecticut, she led a remarkable life filled with creativity, curiosity, and dedication to her many passions. She was a proud graduate of Simmons College, later earning master's degrees from Cornell University and CCAC.

Joan began her career as a nutritionist at Massachusetts General Hospital and teaching home economics in Pittsford, NY, then followed her love of design, becoming a graphic designer at Atari and eventually leading her own design firm, Hausman Design, where she notably created Yahoo's first annual report.

A lifelong learner and adventurer, she found joy in storytelling, co-authoring several children's books, including A Biscuit for Chocolate and Duck, Dog and Bear Go to Africa. She also shared her love for history as a docent at Filoli and expressed her passion for dance throughout her life.

She is survived by her devoted husband of over 61 years, Warren, her loving sons Greg (Louisa) and Jeff (Liza), her beloved grandchildren Cole and Leigh, and her loving brother James (Michael). She lived in many places throughout her life, including Cambridge, Ithaca, Lexington, Pittsford, Stanford, and Cupertino, where she made lasting friendships and memories.

She will be remembered for her boundless creativity, warmth, and love for family. Her legacy lives on in the stories she told, the art she created, and the lives she touched.
