Jeanne Henrietta (Detaille) Scheldwacht

June 22, 1936 – October 11, 2019

Jeanne Scheldwacht, wife, mother, oma, tante and dear friend, passed away of heart-related disease on October 11, 2019. Born in Indonesia to Hermine and Jan Christiaan Detaille, the entire family boarded the ship, Maloya, and moved to the Netherlands in 1950. Jeanne met her beloved husband, Dick, and they began their family in Den Haag. Their son, Ron, was born in 1955. Dreaming of a better life, all three moved to California in 1959. Jeanne's career included Stanford University, Philco Ford and Ford Aerospace where she performed administrative/data entry work and human resources. She enjoyed visiting friends and family, collecting stamps and coins, trying her luck with the slot machines, and spending time with her canine friends over the years – Spotty, Trixie and Titan. When she wasn't busy working, she spent many hours meticulously working on needlepoint projects.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings, Francisca (Eef), Reinhilda (On) and Louis (Lodewijk). She is survived by Ron and his wife Sarah, granddaughters Anja and Janet, and siblings, Jacqueline (Ati), Josephine (Ine), Emiel and Sylvia, and many nephews and nieces. Jeanne will be remembered for her joie de vivre and sense of humor. She will be missed.

Please join her family for Rosary Service at 11 am and a Memorial Service at 12 pm, November 7, 2019, at Spangler Mortuary, 399 South San Antonio Road, Los Altos. Private inurnment service will be at Alta Mesa Memorial Park, Palo Alto.
