Isabelle Ruth
Gimenez
April 7, 2018
Isabelle Ruth Gimenez died peacefully on April 7, 2018 in Sunnyvale, CA at the age of 92.
Isabelle is survived by her children, Maraya Hamilton (Mark) of Chico, CA, Derek Gimenez (Julia) of Fort Jones, CA and Steven Gimenez(Nancy) of Campbell, CA, plus her seven grandchildren (Alisha, Garrett, Sasha, Kristen, Adrien, Amanda, and Douglas). She was preceded in death by her devoted husband John of 62 years in Oct 2015.
Isabelle was a native of Sunnyvale, born on Oct 11, 1925, to Isabel and Jose Vicente. She graduated Fremont High School and worked at Seijo's bakery where she met John Gimenez. They married in 1953 and she became a full time dedicated mother once they started having children. Isabelle had an extraordinary memory and could recall childhood friendships and stories as if they were yesterday. She was a kind and caring person who was well liked by all and always enjoyed meeting new people and sharing life's experiences.
She was raised in a once rural and agricultural Sunnyvale and would often speak of fond memories of working (picking green beans) and playing on her grandmother's ranch, as a young girl with her sister (Josie) and brother (Ray). She was immensely proud of her Spanish heritage and enjoyed sharing her knowledge of Spain with everyone. Her grandchildren were always pleased when their Abuela would recant the family's history as they listened intently to countless stories of her past.
Her passion for cooking and painting were well known by all. Isabelle took great pleasure in having her grandchildren over to help her bake or learn to make paella. She thoroughly enjoyed taking painting classes and making lifetime friendships with fellow artists. Her paintings have been displayed and admired in class as well as in her home.
Above all, Isabelle was dedicated to her family. She will be remembered as a loving, caring, and devoted mother and grandmother.
