Obituary of Irene Genevieve Strangio

Irene Genevieve Strangio The heavens have one more star to shine brightly on us now that Irene has passed to the house of the Lord on Monday. She was the eldest of seven children of Robert and Irene Thornton in Brooklyn, New York. Her adventurous spirit led her to a career in Nursing on the East coast and the West Coast. She raised five children Marie, Jes, Elizabeth, Michael and Janis, wonderful Mother, Nana and Great- grandmother to many. She generously opened her home and her heart to family and friends, sharing her artistic talents, journalistic skills, amazing kitchen abilities and dedicated work ethic with all. She had an amazing ability to make each person in her life feel uniquely special and oh so loved. She imparted a zest for living, a sparkle in her eyes and a lilt of laughter that will remain in our hearts. God Bless you "St. Irene" who put up with the whole tribe. We can almost hear Pop welcoming her to heaven "My Bride, My Wife, My Life…We will miss you forever and a day. A celebration of her life will take place at St. Simon's at 1 o'clock on Friday the 25th, reception to follow in the church hall.
