Obituary of Hope J. Watson
Hope J. Watson March 27, 1926- March 6, 2015 Hope J. Watson passed away peacefully on March 6, 2015. She was born on March 27, 1926 in Troy, New York, the sole child of Alice Grace Reilly and James Treanor Jackson. She grew up in Troy, attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and Catholic Central High School, graduating in 1944. She then attended Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont, graduating in 1946 and returned to Troy to work as a secretary. She met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) James Watson, while he was attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, and they were married in 1950. They moved to Hartford Connecticut, where their twin daughters Diana and Lynda were born, then to Rochester New York, where their daughter Robin was born. In 1955, with three toddlers in hand, they moved to San Diego and finally settled in Los Altos in 1958, where their daughter Sandra was born a few years later. Bob worked as an aeronautical engineer at Lockheed Missiles and Space Corp. for 33 years. Bob and Hope were active members of their community and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, and Europe. Hope's lifetime vocation was being a devoted wife and mother, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was also a devote Roman Catholic and parishioner at St. Simon's Catholic Church in Los Altos for 57 years. After her husband's death in 1994, Hope remained in her home, where she continued to enjoy entertaining her family. She was an avid reader, loved watching movies and going to the local community plays and musicals. She enjoyed discussing the current events of the day and hearing about her children's and grandchildren's lives. Due to declining physical health the past few years, she moved to Villa Siena Senior Living Community in Mt. View this year, where she received excellent care and spiritual comfort. She passed away peacefully, after receiving a blessing from Sister William. Her loving husband, Robert James Watson, precedes Hope in death. She is survived by her four daughters and son-in-laws, Diana and John Farrall of Greenville, SC, Lynda and David Eichler of Woodside, CA, Robin and Mark Hendrickson of Los Altos, CA, Sandra and John McFarland of Granite Bay, CA, as well as her eight grandchildren: Christina Eichler Bullock (husband Benjamin), Tommy and Timmy Hendrickson, Paul Eichler, Jenny and Julie Farrall and Kevin and Emily McFarland. The Vigil service was held at Spangler's Los Altos Chapel on March 13th, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Simon's Catholic Church on March 14th. She was interned at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, where she will be buried next to her husband Bob.
