Hildegarde Jost Kortman
1920-2026

Hilda was born October 1920 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Hilda passed away peacefully, joining her husband Cecil on June 10, 2026. She was 105 years old at the time of her passing.

Hilda and Cecil married May 1946, in Washington D.C. Together they moved across the country, finally making California home. In 1956 they established their permanent residence in Palo Alto. Hilda passed away in that home almost 70 years later.

Hilda and Cecil loved traveling. Family vacations to beaches, mountains and deserts were common. They also regularly explored California on weekend trips. Hilda and Cecil enjoyed dances, attending plays, musicals, comedy acts, along with sporting events including car racing. Hilda loved sewing and excelled at embroidery. Upon Cecil's retirement they traveled the world looking forward to discovering new countries. Highlights of the year were family get-togethers. They brought all the children and their families together each year in Palo Alto. At the end of her life her great-grandchildren were her greatest joy. She watched them grow with pictures and video calls. Also she found much cheerfulness in all things Snoopy. Snoopy would bring an instant smile to her face. She took card games very seriously.

Hilda is survived by her sister Dee. Also surviving are her children: JoAnne (Albert), Charles, Robert (Carol). Additionally surviving are her grandchildren: Albert Jr. (Crystal), Lynnette (Joe), Chris (Krista), and John (Beth), and her great-grandchildren: Miah, Lily, Eli, Lincoln, Josie and Lucas.

Her love of family, sense of humor and positive outlook will be missed.
