Helen Ann
Glaubitz
July 4, 2018
The woman with the bright red hair, Helen always stood out.She loved life, always had a bright smile and nice words for those she met.She was many things to many people, but perhaps most distinguished as a loving mom and nana to her two children and three grandchildren.
Helen married Duane "Duey" Eldrew Glaubitz on November 10, 1951, in Crown Point, Indiana and, after a decade in the Midwest, moved to California where they raised a family.
Helen performed in theater productions – where she and Duey met – and sang on stage and in church choirs. They were active socially in couples' groups, trying new restaurants around the San Francisco Bay Area. She also was active in women's clubs, which resulted in several very close friendships that spanned more than 40 years. She and Duey enjoyed entertaining and hosted frequent dinner parties. They hosted an annual "Derby Day" party for the Kentucky Derby, serving mint juleps to the guests.
She maintained her interest in the theater, often attending local productions with her friends and often with her granddaughterAngela. She attended her granddaughter Mackenzie's theater performances and her grandson Cole's soccer games.
She lived in the family home in Mountain View for 49 years, and, after her husband's passing, her daughter moved back home in 2013 and cared for heruntil just over a year ago when she received the wonderful help of her caregivers, Amy and Lolita
Helen is survived by her brother Fred, her loving children Kurt and Kari and the amazing grandchildren she nurtured: Angela Wilson, Mackenzie Glaubitz and Cole Glaubitz.
