Obituary of Helen Consuelo Carrillo Magin
Connie, a longtime resident of Sunnyvale, 1 day short of her 95th birthday, passed away at her Sunnyvale home of 75 years. Born in Makaweli, Kauai, she was the 5th of 11 children born to Edwardo and Antonia Carrillo "Ma & Pa" who migrated from Spain to the Hawaiian Islands in 1913. In 1926 the family moved to the Bay Area. Sunnyvale became Connie's home town. In 1941 she married Carmelo "Carman" Marfia and in 1943, daughter Marlene Jean Marfia was born. Sadly, Carman was killed in action on Nov 23, 1944 aboard the USS Brown Navy Battleship. As life continued on for Connie and Marlene, she met and married Walter Edward Magin in 1946, who was stationed at Moffet Field Naval Base. Adding to the family came daughter Paulette Elinor Magin born in 1951. Connie and Walt spent 57 years of marriage together until he passed on Jan 14, 2003. Connie was always there to help out her family. She grew the most beautiful orchids, which everyone would admire. Wednesday Night Summer Concerts, downtown Sunnyvale, you would find her with family and friends listening and dancing to the music. She was a previous member of Hui Ilima Hawaiian Club, where she met new friends. She is survived by daughters Marlene Rowen (Lynn) and Paulette Hendrickson (Kenneth). Grandchildren Kimbra, Christian, Sean (Shannon), Kenneth"Tito" (Juanita). Great-Grandchildren, Ashley, Addison, Jacksen, Andrew and Matthew. Also survived by her brothers Richard (Judy), Ralph (Rosemarie) Carrillo, sister-in-law Barbara Carrillo and many nieces and nephews who loved her very much. She was "Auntie Connie". We Love you Mom until we meet again! Rosary at Spanglers Mortuary Sunnyvale on May 31, 2016 @ 7PM. Mass at St Martins Catholic Church Sunnyvale on June 1 @ 10:30AM . Followed by burial at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery in Santa Clara. Mom loved her birthplace Hawaii so please wear your Aloha attire.
