Gary John Wenberg, born September 30, 1940 passed away on February 6, 2023. He was born in San Mateo, graduated from Hillsdale High School (San Mateo, CA) in 1960 and attended College of San Mateo. Gary lived the majority of his life in the Bay Area, including San Mateo, Cupertino and San Jose. The past 6 years he lived at Carlton Senior Living in San Jose. Gary was the oldest of five children.

He met his wife Carol in middle school, they began dating in high school, and married after graduating from high school in 1962. They had an amazing partnership and marriage, and he was the love of her life and best friend.

Gary started his career in the grocery business as a store manager for many years. In 1972 he started a new career as a State Farm Insurance agent. This was a true passion and he spent the next 43 years doing what he loved. He retired in 2015 on his 75 th birthday. Gary and his wife were devoted members of St. Jude's Episcopal Church in Cupertino and he served multipletimes on the Vestry. They enjoyed traveling together later in life seeing many parts of the country. He had very strong values and was well liked by everyone, mostly due to his positive energy and genuine caring for others. He had a unique ability to make everyone he met feel special. His family meant so much to him and he showed them in so many ways how much he loved them. His sense of humor, kindness, and smile will be missed by all of his family and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his wife Carol, parents Victor "Jack" and Helen Wenberg, brother Paul Wenberg, daughter Laurie Heying, and granddaughter Megan Stahl.

Gary is survived by his children Cindy (John, late) Stahl and Christine (Kevin, late) Iams, his grandchildren Kimberly, Robin, Andrew, Corey and Zachary (Haley), great grandson Jet, brother Eric (Sadie) Wenberg, sisters Sandi (David) Dias and Barbara (David) Kohtz and many nieces and nephews.

Gary will be interred at Alta Mesa Memorial Park, Palo Alto, CA.

A celebration of life memorial service for Gary and his late wife, Carol, will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 29, 2023 at St. Jude's Episcopal Church, 20920 McClellan Rd., Cupertino.
